FAQ

What kind of films can I submit?
Your film can be of any genre. Films should be under 20 minutes and must have English captions.

How do I submit my entry?
Submit your film via FilmFreeway. If your film is selected, we will contact you to ask for the video file through a downloadable link (e.g. WeTransfer, Dropbox, Vimeo, Google Drive). If it’s not possible for you to send us the video file this way, please contact us.

Should I provide SRT files or burned-in captions?
We prefer SRT files as this will allow us to make sure the captions are up to our standards. You may submit a burned-in version but if your film is selected, you will also need to send us a version without captions.

My film doesn’t have captions. Can I submit it and then add captions after if selected?
No. Some of our judges are deaf/hard-of-hearing and will need all submissions to have captions.

My film has no dialogue. Can I submit it without captions?
Yes, but sounds that are not visible to the eye will still need to be captioned.

My film is not in English, can I submit it?
Yes, just make sure English subtitles are available.

How many times can I submit my film?
You only need to submit once - we keep a record of all the films sent to us.

Can I submit a film that is already online or has been previously screened elsewhere?
Absolutely.

Can I enter more than one film?
You may enter as many films as you like.
